REPEAT DISPENSING SCHEME
This scheme is an alternative option to obtain your medicines. Your GP will give you a maximum of 12 months "repeatable prescription". With these prescriptions you can collect your medicines from a pharmacy of your choice at regular intervals without having to contact the practice. Contact the Repeat Prescription Line on 028 66 342456 or call to reception to find out if you could avail of this scheme. Full details will be explained to you.
OVER THE COUNTER PRESCRIBING POLICY
From 1st July 2011, the practice will be implementing a new OVER THE COUNTER PRESCRIBING POLICY, these are products which you can buy from the pharmacy.
You may notice a change in your usual prescription or you could be asked to purchase an item. We will inform patients of specific changes if they are affected, however if you want further information please speak to a member of staff.
MINOR AILMENTS
If you are suffering a minor ailment such as diarrhoea, vaginal thrush, threadworms, athlete's foot or headlice you may visit your local pharmacy for advice and treatment rather than waiting to contact the practice for an appointment or a prescription.
The pharmacist will recommend advice and treatment under the Minor Ailments Scheme.
TRAVEL VACCINES & HEALTH ADVICE
Patients travelling abroad should contact the Practice at least 3 months prior to their planned trip.
We advise patients not to leave it until the week before you go, as many vaccines need to be given a few weeks before travelling to ensure their full effectiveness.
Patients shoud complete the Travel Risk Assessment form and return it to the Practice and arrange an appointment with the Practice Nurse.
Some vaccines are available free on the NHS, however there are a number of vaccines that are not available free on the NHS but can be prescribed on a private prescription by the Practice. Patients will be charged for the issuing of a private prescription and also for the administration of any non NHS vaccine.

REGISTRATION BOUNDARIES - AMENDMENTS TO PRACTICE MILE RADIUS
With the current pressures on General Practice, we realise that we need to reduce our present boundaries. From June 2010, patients changing their address beyond a radius of six miles will be advised to find a GP in their new area.
(This does not affect patients who are currently registered beyond a six mile radius of Lakeside Medical Practice).
If you have any queries, a member of staff will be willing to help you.
This notice is an amendment to information included on our website.
GP TRAINEE
Dr Cathy Kennedy has commenced training with the practice for a 12 month period from August 2011.
