SPECIAL CLINICS AND SERVICES

Baby Clinic

Baby clinics are run on the second, third and last Wednesday morning of each month. These clinics are run by a doctor and health visitor for child development checks and immunisations.

You will receive a reminder from the Health Authority when your child is due for immunisation. please ring the surgery to arrange this appointment.

We expect all babies to have the recommended vaccines as medically indicated.

Well Woman Clinic

This clinic takes place on the second and fourth Thursday morning of each month and is carried out by the practice nurse or female doctor. However, if clinic time is inconvenient for the patient, the doctor will be only too willing to arrange a smear during normal surgery hours. Patients will be invited by a letter when a smear test is due. This involves a simple test to detect changes at the cervix which, if left untreated, may lead to cancer. It is important to attend, when you receive an appointment.

Contraceptive Services

We provide a family planning service and will advise you regarding all methods of contraception including the pill and emergency contraception if needed. The practice does not insert intra-uterine devices. Please make an appointment with the doctor of your choice during normal surgery hours.
And we also offer pre-conceptual advice.

Antenatal Clinic

Together with doctors and community midwives, review clinics are held on Thursday mornings between 9.30 and 11.00am.

Patients Over 75 Years

Those patients over 75 years of age may have a healthcare checkup if requested.

Warfarin Clinic

All patients within the practice who are on Warfarin treatment are invited to attend a yearly clinic. At this clinic, patients will be given information - reasons why they are on Warfarin and when they can be expected to stop treatment.

Smoking Cessation Clinic

Our practice nurse is trained to help you give up smoking by seeing you on an individual basis and giving advice and support. You can arrange an appointment by contacting reception staff.

Adult Vaccinations

Tetanus and polio - all adults should ensure they have had a tetanus and polio booster in the last 10 years.

Flu vaccinations - are available each autumn for those patients who are elderly or at risk due to certain medical conditions such as asthma, CoPD, diabetes, kidney disease or heart trouble.

Minor Surgery

Minor surgery procedures are carried out by appointment, preferably last appointment at afternoon surgery.

New Patient Registration

All new patients over the age of five years who register with the practice will be invited to attend a health screening assessment. This is an extremely important checkup as it can identify any potential problems and introduce you to the practice and to the services we can offer you and your family.
Please make sure that you attend this appointment as new patients are not usually accepted into the practice until they have had the new patient registration medical.
